Look of the day: Summer Brights with ombre lip

Hi all! Today I got bored after work and decided to redo my eye look for the day. I wanted to play with yellow and the reddish pink caught my eye too so I made a summery cat eye look with it. Then I found a picture of purple/pink ombre lips and decided to give it a go too....why not you know? This is what I came up with, all products are listed below. Enjoy!

Face:
Smashbox Primer Water
Lancome Cushion Foundation in 250 Bisque W
Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Golden Light
DermaBlend Smooth Liquid Camo Concealer in Biscuit
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Bronzer in Paradise Cove
ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Monster
ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Blush in Between the Sheets

Eyes:
MUG Shadows in Lemon Drop (all over lid) Peach Smoothie (blending in crease), White Lies (brow bone), Razzleberry (lower lash line)
Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Classic mascara
Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep
Benefit Brow Zings in Medium
CoverGirl Intensify Me liquid liner in Intense Black

Lips:
Outer Edges: ColourPop Lippie Stix in Fern
Center: ColourPop Lippie Stix in Scandy

This is definitely a different look for me lip wise, it still throws me off to look at it but it is pretty cool looking. I'll probably be trying a more neutral ombre lip next since this one turned out so well. Let me know your thoughts!

First Impression/Review: ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Highlighters

Hi all! Today I have another review for you! I might have gone a little crazy with all the ColourPop releases lately but this is it....for now maybe ;) ColourPop released these highlighters a month ago and I held out on ordering them because I just knew they weren't done releasing stuff for the summer and I lumped these in with my purchases for the Summer collection.

These highlighters are $8 a piece and they have 16 of them, three of them are more blush colors in my opinion. They have the same wonderful formula as the blushes and you can build your amount of shimmer that you want. I bought 6 of them (I had some reserve, thank you lol)

Top to Bottom: Smoke N Whistles, Hippo, Butterfly Beach, Monster, Lunch Money, Most Necessary

Smoke N Whistles is a cool toned pink champagne with silver highlights, Hippo is a cool toned icy lavender (and probably my favorite), Butterfly Beach is a peach color with gold and silver highlights, Monster is a light pink with an opal duo chrome (yes, it's as pretty as it sounds!!), Lunch Money is a light gold with a golden reflective duo chrome and Most Necessary is a soft copper with a rosey gold highlight.

Let's just say they're all amazing and I want the rest!! It will probably never happen but I'll slowly order more as more stuff comes out. Such a steal at $8!!

ColourPop Summer 2015 Collection Swatches/Review

Hi All! I finally received this week my highly anticipated ColourPop's Summer 2015 Collection. And let me tell you, I'm in LOVE with the colors they came out with for all of it! I got most of it except the Lippie collection called Sunday's in Silverlake (the colors just weren't calling my name...), a stand alone lippie called Polliwog (not a big fan of light brown nudes on my skin tone) and some of the bronzers (yes, ColourPop did bronzers!!) just for the fact that they wouldn't go with my skin tone very well. Anywho, on to the goodies!

Monday's in Malibu Set

Top to Bottom: Hot Tamale, Sand Swoon, Snakebite, Gecko, Prickly Pear, Mirage
Monday's in Malibu Collection

Let's just take a moment to appreciate Gecko...it doesn't show up as well on camera but it has a blueish green and pink duochrome to it that is to die for!! Pretty sure this is my favorite shade of the collection. Hot Tamale is reddish brown with some bronze sparkles in it, Sand Swoon is a pastel pink with gold sparkles, Snakebite is a warm gold with an "ultra metallic" finish, Prickly Pear is warm plum with gold and pink glitter and Mirage is a sage green with a champagne gold finish.

Top to Bottom: Plunge, Nillionaire, High Tide, Shark Attack, Flipper, Coconut
Single Shadows

First thing I did with this batch of shadows was pair Shark Attack and Coconut and I loved it! I'll be posting the look later this week. Plunge is a light warm beige with a golden sheen, Nillionaire is a warm bronze with gold and multi colored glitter, High Tide is a pale champagne gold, Shark Attack is a mid toned warm coral with a gold duo chrome, Flipper is a soft tangerine with pink and silver glitter (it looks more yellow on my skin for some reason...) and Coconut is a bright peacock blue in a pearlized finish (it's so awesome, it's already sold out on their website, that rarely happens!).

All the shadows are the same awesome formula that has me going back each time they release new colors. I do use my finger to apply the shade(s) I want on my lid but I do use a crease blush in the actual crease to get everything blended perfectly. You can use a primer but you don't really need one their staying power is so awesome.

Top to Bottom: Skinny Dipping (Bronzer), Paradise Cove (Bronzer), Get Leid (Matte Blush), Jelly Fish (Pearlized Blush)

As you know from my previous post on the Super Shock Cheek blushes, I love ColourPop's formula for these cream like blushes. Get Leid looks like a nice natural flush on your cheeks where Jelly Fish is brighter and has a pearlized finish. Paradise Cove and Skinny Dipping are a part of ColourPop's expansion of the Super Shock Cheek line into bronzers. I'm just now getting into bronzers (I don't know what I was thinking earlier in my life when I didn't think I needed bronzer and now I can't live without...). Both are recommended for Light to Medium Skin tones, Skinny Dipping is a matte finish and Paradise Cove is a satin finish that has a golden sheen to it. They're the same formula as the blushes and blend just as beautifully. I did find that I had to keep putting product on to get a good color payoff but I was using a stippling brush and they recommend using your fingers for a more intense payoff. All in all they are creamy, buildable and blendable products that are definitely worth the $8 price tag.

Top to Bottom: Toucan, Luau, Fiesta, Topanga

Toucan (Matte)

Luau (Hyper Glossy)

Fiesta (Cream)

Topanga (Satin)

First, let me just say I didn't realize until I sat down to write this post that I bought four different finishes of lipsticks...I just bought them for their colors LOL. So far, Topanga is BY FAR my favorite of the four I bought for this collection, Toucan and Luau are tied for second. I'm not sure about Fiesta yet, it looks way to pale on me and for some reason, if I don't blot it after applying it, it builds up along the edges of my lips...one of their other colors (Monkey, a hyper glossy finish from their Spring 2015 release) does this as well and it's a similar color but a little more pink. It won't stop me from finding a way to make it work, it is a pretty color...maybe when I get a tan it will look better...

I haven't talked about ColourPop's lippie stix on here yet but I love them! My favorite finish so far would have to be cream followed by matte (good staying power but it does kind of dry out your lips but if you put a chapstick on first or a moisturizing primer you'll be golden) then satin and hyper glossy and glossy. All the finishes are long lasting and you just need to touch up a few times a day after eating just like with any other lipstick. And the price point gets me every time ($5!!!)

CoourPop has really out done themselves again with this collection. The release of the bronzers was an amazing addition to their permanent line up! Are you going to be snagging anything out of this collection? Let me know!

First Impressions: Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil

Hi all!! Today I have a first impression review for a new lip product that is definitely different from any other I've tried. It's called a "tint-in-oil" and that's pretty much exactly what it is. It feels a little weird to put on, kinda drippy feeling but at the same time it has the consistency of a thinner gloss. I have the shade called "8 - Pink About Me" which I thought was going to be a bright dark pink...I was wrong. It is a pretty color but when they say "tint", they mean just a tint. It doesn't really stain the lips but it does give a beautiful glossy color. Before I get too far into this, let's just take a moment to ogle the pretty silver and pink packaging, the pink part changes depending on which color you bought so you can easily identify what color you're grabbing if you have multiples.

The applicator is a little odd, but it works really well for this product. It's extremely flexible but still not cheap feeling like it's going to break off when you use it.

I took a couple pictures of this on my lips so you can get an idea of what it looks like, and just remember, this is one of the darker shades.

Immediately after application

After 2-3 hours of wear

I do feel like the color does last longer than the glossiness does and I didn't really notice the color being gone for about 2-3 hours after I didn't feel the gloss anymore. It's not really a "buildable" color either, when you reapply, it just gets glossy again but no extra color payoff. I do feel like it's moisturizing but not enough to replace my normal chapstick on extra dry days.

I got this at Sephora for $32. While I don't think it's really worth the $32, I don't regret buying it and it has a home in my purse for that quick "go to" color. I do prefer this over any lip gloss I currently own but I wouldn't rush out and buy all the colors.

Review/First Impression: Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette

Hi all! Today I bring you a review of the Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette by Morphe Brushes. This is my first Morphe Brushes purchase and I will say, I'm quite impressed with the quality of these shadows. I would say this palette has a good mixture of matte shadows and satin/glittery shadows. Most of the colors are more warm toned but I love warm toned shadows which led me to buy this (that and I love Jaclyn's videos on YouTube, if you have a chance, go look her up! You won't regret it! Your wallet might regret it but that's ok haha).

Anyways, the shadows are buttery, very pigmented and blend like a dream. I do have a hard time putting together a look using just this palette and I end up pulling in other colors in my stash but I still get quite a bit of use out of it. It's not my favorite formulation or color selection but I'm not completely disappointed in this purchase. Like I said, I will get use out of it and the shadows are excellent quality. I just suggest either doing Morphe's singles or a more diverse palette if you want to give this brand a shot.

This palette was limited edition so it's no longer available in the palette form but you can buy the single eye shadows on their website.

Review: ColourPop Where the Light Is Quad - kathleenlights collab

Hi again!! Today I come to you with a review for yet another ColourPop item, the Where The Light Is quad collab with one of my favorite YouTube beauty gurus kathleenlights (if you have a chance go check her out!!). I already own several of ColourPop's shadows but I just had to have this quad, all warm tones and together they make a wonderful bronze eye look (see below for the look I came up with).

The formula is like a cream shadow but they dry like a powder. When you put your finger in the pot, you could push through the shadow straight to the bottom of the pan it's so creamy. It's hard to describe the texture of these shadows, they're so unique. But they have some amazing staying power even more so with a primer underneath. It's amazing how these little beauties can pack such a punch, but they do and at a great price ($5 a single and this quad was $20).

Glow is a vanilla white color that is an amazing highlight for under the brow and has a matte finish. Cornelius is a matte warm caramel color that works perfect in the crease. kathleenlights is a bright golden copper color with a pearlized finish and the last color Blaze is a dark bronze color with multi dimensional glitter with a metallic finish. Below are pictures of the quad and swatches.

Top: Glow, Cornelius
Bottom: kathleenlights, Blaze
